The directors of the twin Reading and Leeds music festivals have confirmed that they are on track to take place late August.
Following prime minister Boris John’s announcement that festivals would be allowed in summer if covid-19 remains under control, the official Reading and Leeds Instagram account posted a video declaring in a caption: “We can’t wait to get back to the fields this summer.”
After the festivals were cancelled last year on 12 May, the organisers gave ticket holders the option of a refund or keeping tickets to use them in 2021. Fans took to Twitter expressing their disappointment, whilst also asking for a better line-up this year.
Stormzy, Post Malone, Doja Cat and other big names are on the bill this year. But fans are econcerned that some artists – including Rex Orange County, Migos and Rage Against the Machine – don’t seem to be on even though they were due to appear in 2020.
