Graduation ceremonies at the University of Essex have been postponed once again.
Last year, the University had to postpone Summer and Winter ceremonies, and after considering covid-safe precautions, Graduation ceremonies in July 2021 have been cancelled.
On 22 February 2021, the government published its roadmap for moving out of the national lockdown outlining the government’s desire for most social restrictions to be lifted by 21 June 2021.
In-person ceremonies could be held in July 2021 if restrictions in the UK are lifted as outlined in the roadmap. However, a decision on the restrictions would not be made in time to allow sufficient planning of the ceremonies.
The University is already looking into holding the ceremonies in September 2021, in accordance with all the Government guidelines or, if that is not possible, the next potential date is December 2021.
