The Essex Students’ Union volunteering team is holding in-person events on the Colchester campus on 14 May.
Mental Wellness Day is a great opportunity for students to relax, practice self-care, and get away from exam worries for just this day.
Whether you want to enjoy some free coffee and croissant in the Secret Garden while chatting to other fellow students or practice the art of concentration during the one-hour long yoga session there is something to suit everyone’s needs.
The VTeam along with the Wellbeing Ambassadors have prepared six events, one hour long each, which will take place in the morning and mid–afternoon: go have a coffee and a coffee morning conversation by 10am, practice yoga by 11am, play with fluffy puppies at 12pm or get creative with activities hosted by the Art Club.
The Art Club promises to awaken students’ inner child while making an original sand art bottle.
Students will also get advice on how to study and cope with stress under exam conditions.
Students will too get the chance to learn how to practice mindfulness in an exclusive meditation session hosted by a professional trainer at 2pm.
The big day will finish off with a returning yoga session for anyone who missed it previously or wants an extra boost for the remaining of the day.
Ahead of Wellness Day, the VTeam is looking for passionate future leaders to fill in the following roles: Animal Protection Communications Officer, Art Club Communications Officer, Coding Club Project Leader, Coding Club Communications Officer, Einstein Project leader, and several other roles for those keen to engage with the photography club, the ‘lend a hand’ project or teaching assistants.
On Southend campus, Wellbeing Day is celebrated on 16 May with a similar range of events.
To register for the events in advance, students may want to access the student legally authorised platform GradIntel.
