The body of a 2-year-old girl has been found in a Dagenham garden after she went missing on 29 January.
The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene at an address in Reede Road following a search of “around 20 to 30 people” according to a neighbour.
A spokesperson for the Met Police East Area command unit said: “The girl was found unresponsive in the garden. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained.”
Three neighbours also reported that the girl was allegedly found in a “black builders’ bucket in the garden by a police dog”.
Police have stated that a post-mortem on the child will be held this week, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
