Biden’s first year: so far so good

By Hannah Reid

The first 100 days in office are the most important for the president as this is when they can start to pass legislation through executive orders and fulfil their policy agenda. An executive order is a rule or order issued by the president to an executive branch of the government and have the force of the law.

President Joe Biden took the oath of office a year ago and has faced several challenges such as a global pandemic that has crumbled the economy. Vaccination requirements such as all businesses with 100 or more employees ensuring their workers are either vaccinated or tested once a week. Biden also penned an executive order requiring all government employees to be vaccinated with no option to opt out of regular testing. Whoopi’s Immediate suspension from “The View”

Whoopi Goldberg “immediate” suspension from “The View”

Goldberg when speaking of the holocaust said it “involved two groups of white people”.

Goldberg was suspended from “The View” over claim that the Holocaust was “not about race”.

Goldberg made the comments during a discussion about a Tennessee school board’s decision to ban the Pulitzer prize-winning Holocaust graphic novel Maus.

ABC News said Goldberg would be off air for two weeks after her “wrong and hurtful comments”. ABC News organisation said, “Whoopi’s comments do not align with those values… of solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities”.

Goldberg has apologised for her comments publicly on air the day after these comments were said, addressing that she “misspoke”. Then addressing her 1.6 million Twitter followers wrote: “I said the Holocaust is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man. I should have said both it is about both”.

The viewers of the talk show and members of the Jewish were outraged at these ignorant comments and Goldberg’s appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ where she tried to clarify her comments which in turned caused more offence.

ABC News President Kim Godwin has asked Goldberg “to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments” while she is suspended.
